Course Introduction

Welcome to Inside the Recording Industry. To complete this class you will need to orient yourself with the course materials and evaluation procedures.

Class meeting and final exam

We will not meet as a group until the final exam. It will be held Friday, April 30 from 10-12 in room BAS S137E..

The final exam is closed-book but you will have access to study guides based on each quiz. These will not be made available until several days before the final exam.

You will take four open-book online quizzes--one for each module of the course (see "course modules" on the menu). However, the quizzes are timed and you only have one hour to complete each.

The availability dates and times for each quiz are listed on the test page and schedule on D2L. Be sure to note the deadline for each quiz. There are no late or makeup quizzes since you have several weeks to take each one.

Grading information

Ten percent of your grade is based on online participation. Points can be earned by participating in some or all of the following: scavenger hunts, online chats, surveys, creating your own homepage for this website. Earn points toward this right now by completing the "media use survey" and creating your own homepage on the D2L site.

Be sure to read the instructions on the page entitled quiz Instructions. It will tell you tips on taking the quizzes and when they are available. And look over the pages in the Course Modules section.

Special note for students who are not in the Nashville area this semester or who have a conflict with the final exam time:

You will need to make arrangements through the distance learning center to have your final exam proctored in the town where you live. Contact them several weeks before the end of the term to make arrangements.

You will also need to make arrangements with the instructor to receive a copy of the CD-ROM for the class. The textbook is available at the bookstore or through Amazon.com.
